Project Neighbors has always responded to community needs, but we've never done it alone. Without partnerships, most of our accomplishments would have been impossible. Now, our community partners support our residents and expand opportunities for a stronger, more supported, and more inclusive Valparaiso.
CoAction
CoAction is a Community Action Agency dedicated to empowering individuals and families in Northwest Indiana to achieve self-sufficiency. They offer a variety of services, including affordable housing, financial assistance, and support programs for seniors and individuals with disabilities. Their mission is to help everyone in the community thrive, regardless of income, ability, or age.
HealthLinc
HealthLinc is a nonprofit, federally qualified health center committed to improving healthcare access for residents of northern Indiana. They offer a range of services, including medical, dental, behavioral health, and pharmacy services, with a focus on providing quality care regardless of a patient's ability to pay. HealthLinc accepts various insurance plans, including Medicare, Medicaid, and the Healthy Indiana Plan, and offers a sliding fee scale for uninsured patients.
Hilltop Neighborhood House
Established in 1995, Hilltop Neighborhood House serves as a community center in Valparaiso, Indiana, aiming to empower families and strengthen the community by providing a place to learn, grow, and belong. They offer a range of programs, including early childhood education for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years, after-school care, a food pantry, and a mobile pantry to address food insecurity. Hilltop also hosts community events and provides tuition assistance to ensure that all families have access to their services.
Neighbors' Educational Opportunities (NEO)
NEO is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing alternative educational pathways for individuals of all ages in Northwest Indiana. Their flagship program, New Vistas High School, is a tuition-free public high school offering smaller class sizes, flexible schedules, and multiple paths to a Core 40 diploma. In addition to high school education, NEO offers Adult Education classes, including GED preparation, English as a Second Language (ESL) courses, and career training opportunities. Their mission is to empower students with the credentials, knowledge, skills, confidence, and hope needed to achieve their dreams.
The Caring Place
The Caring Place is a nonprofit organization providing comprehensive support to individuals affected by domestic violence and sexual assault in Porter, Lake, and Starke counties. As the only 24-hour crisis line and emergency shelter in Porter County, they offer safe shelter, victim advocacy, legal assistance, and community education. Their goal is to provide inclusive services and ongoing support to help survivors rebuild their lives.
WVLP 103.1 FM
WVLP 103.1 FM, known as "The Voice of Valparaiso," is a nonprofit community radio station based in Valparaiso, Indiana. It features local hosts who play music they love and discuss issues that matter to the community. Broadcasting 24 hours a day, WVLP offers a diverse range of music and locally relevant programming that listeners won't hear anywhere else. Listeners can tune in locally at 103.1 FM or stream online through their website.
