Hi everyone! The Crossing, our future 23 unit studio apartment building on the corner of Nickle Plate Ave and Axe Ave needs your help! Here are some details:
Where: The Crossing, 850 Axe Ave. (also known as 209 Nickle Plate Ave)
When: Friday September 5th, 7:30 am to 1:00 pm
Food: Coffee at 7:30am and coffee and donuts between 9:30am and 10:00am
Other: gloves and water provided; porta potty on-site
No Skills Required! Whether you've never picked up a hammer or you've been with us for years, we'd love to have you join us. We'll match the tasks to your comfort level. Tools will be supplied but if you have a favorite tool, you are welcome to bring it.
Reminders will be sent out next week to update everyone of any changes due to weather or other issues.
Work to be done:
We will be playing in the sand! The foundation, underground plumbing and backfill (sand) are complete. The next step is the flatwork (concrete floor) but first we have to prep the sand to accomplish 2 items:
1 - Grade the sand to the correct elevation.
2 - trench the sand 8" deep by 18" wide (thickened slab) beneath the load bearing walls only.
We hope you will join us. If not, we are lining up more opportunities to get together and help the project get done. We look forward to seeing you soon!
Don't forget the pre-volunteer warm up. We don't want anyone pulling a hammy.

When: Monday, Sept 8 through Wednesday, Sept 10, 8:00 am to 1:00 pm
What to Bring: We’ll provide gloves, sunscreen, and water. Tools are supplied, but you’re welcome to bring a favorite if you’d like.
What we'll be working on:

Removing old siding

Repairing and reframing any damaged walls

Removing old windows and installing new ones

Wrapping the house
-
Beginning fresh siding installation
No special skills are needed. Whether it’s your first time or you’ve been volunteering for years, tasks will be matched to your comfort level.
